Living in Stonegate
The first sections were filed in 1963, while the area was still unincorporated. Tract 1454 along Cavalier Avenue came first, then the two units of Tract 1483 around Fletcher, Gardner and Haviland streets, known in home sales as Stonegate (Fletcher). Tracts 1561 and 1596 followed in July 1964 along Talbert Avenue, Rosette Street and lower Appleton Road. The houses came from a short list of one- and two-story plans of about 1,040 to 2,050 square feet, mostly on lots of 6,500 to 9,000 square feet.
On the east side, Great West Homes, Inc. filed the three Tract 3459 maps. Briar Hill Circle was built in 1982–83, the two-story homes around Manorgate Place in 1986, and larger houses on Cinnabar and High Point places from 1994 to 1999. Mountain View Elementary is on Fletcher Street at the north edge. Sycamore Park, just west on Planetree Avenue, has softball, basketball, a playground and disc golf, and Runkle Canyon Park on Fir Avenue is to the south. The blocks north of Fletcher toward Royal Avenue were built on separate maps between the 1950s and the 1990s.
