Living in Sycamore Grove
Farmers had used the offices at 3041 Cochran Street since 1982. In 2010 it announced it would move about 1,200 employees to Woodland Hills, and the 271,000 square feet of buildings stood empty from 2013. Province Group bought the 12.8-acre property in 2019, and the City Council approved a zoning change for the project, then called The Enclave, later that year. Lennar bought the 164 planned lots in 2020. Tract 6024, which covers 11.7 acres of the site, was recorded in October 2021, and Lennar's models were scheduled to open in January 2022.
Lennar sold three collections: Sorrell townhomes at the north end, Acacia three-story detached homes toward Cochran Street, and Cypress single-family houses along Harrison Lane on the east side. The Sycamore Grove Simi Valley Homeowners Association maintains the private lanes, the landscaping and the shared spaces, which include a pool, barbecue areas, a farm-to-table garden, a bocce court, fire pits, a tot lot and lawn space. Target and Trader Joe's in the Sycamore Village shopping area are a short walk west on Cochran Street, and the 1980s Sycamore Ridge neighborhood is across Galena Avenue.
The lay of the land
A newer Lennar community of townhomes, three-story detached homes and two-story houses on private lanes, with a shared pool and garden and everyday shopping next door on Cochran Street
Separate from two similarly named places. Sycamore Ridge (Tract 2874, 93063) is a 1980s Griffin community across Galena Avenue with its own master association. Sycamore Grove Street is in Wood Ranch (Tract 4239). Land-sale and business-press reports called this project The Enclave before Lennar's sales name took over. Home sales use Sycamore Grove as the community name, though at least one Harrison Lane house was marketed as "Shadow Ridge." A 1.13-acre piece of the former Farmers site, 3013 E. Cochran St. (Parcel 2 of Parcel Map LD-S-693), lies outside the tract. Lennar's sales material said the community has no Mello-Roos tax and is within walking distance of the Sycamore Village retail center, Target and Trader Joe's.
