About

Living in Italian Tract

The 1959 map was drawn by Rosenthal Engineering of Los Angeles. On it, Venice Street runs north from Royal Avenue, which the map labels Pitts Road, and bends east into Vorale Avenue, which meets Sinaloa Road. Milan Drive runs south from Vorale and ends in a cul-de-sac. Most lots are about 9,800 square feet. County assessor records list most of the houses at 1,260 or 1,316 square feet, and the rest as larger. On Nextdoor, the same area is called the Vorale, Venice and Milan neighborhood.

A short piece of Genoa Drive enters from the west, but the homes along Genoa belong to Tract 1094 next door. Lockford Homes recorded that tract in July 1959, along with Rosita, Bonita and Carmen drives. South of Royal Avenue, Venice Street continues into two 1978 subdivisions that also created Naples Court. Madera Elementary is a short walk west on Royal Avenue, and Sinaloa Middle School is just across Sinaloa Road.

The lay of the land

A small 1959 tract of detached homes on lots of about 9,800 square feet, laid out on three short public streets between Royal Avenue and Sinaloa Road.

"Italian Tract" is an informal name with no official boundary. This page follows the 1959 Tract 1164 map, whose outline matches Nextdoor's "Vorale, Venice and Milan" neighborhood. Genoa Drive and Naples Court also have Italian names, but they are in neighboring tracts.
