About

Living in Bridle Path

County records show three building phases. The 1977–79 homes line Nonchalant Drive, Rambling Road and Mellow Lane, with a smaller group just west of First Street on Languid and Tranquil lanes. A 1981 phase added Meander Drive, Wrangler Road and nearby courts. The 1985–87 homes reach Rocking Horse Drive and Sunnydale Avenue, mostly on land Bryant Financial Corporation mapped in 1985–86. Zoning here allows horses, which is rare in the city, and street names like Nonchalant, Placid and Carefree match the easygoing pace.

The Bridle Path Homeowners Association runs Bridle Path Mountain Park, about 1,700 acres of private open space for paying members. Most of it burned in the 2018 Woolsey Fire, when parts of the neighborhood were under voluntary evacuation. The streets are public and there are no gates. Challenger Park and the Creekside Trail lead into the hills from the end of First Street, and the Cheeseboro and Palo Comado Canyon parklands lie to the south.
