About

Living in Hidden Oaks

The county recorded it as two home tracts. Auburn Hills (Tract 5164-2, 108 homes) runs along the south side of the rail line, with houses of roughly 2,300 to 3,400 square feet. Emerald Pointe (Tract 5164-3, 83 homes) sits higher up at the end of Hidden Ranch Drive. Its houses are larger, on lots of about a third of an acre. A single association, the Hidden Oaks 191 Homeowners Association, covers all 191 homes. The streets are public and there are no gates.

The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District sends hikers to the Parker Ranch Trail by way of Hidden Ranch Drive. Large hillside parcels on both tract maps have no buildings on them. Arroyostow Park and Katherine Elementary School are just across the tracks to the north, and Simi Valley High School is about a mile north on Cochran Street.

The lay of the land

Two home tracts from one builder, sharing a single homeowners association. Auburn Hills has mid-size houses along the rail line, and Emerald Pointe has larger houses on hillside lots. Undeveloped hillside and the Parker Ranch Trail border both tracts.

County records give the whole area one number, Tract 5164. Its first unit (5164-1) lies north of the tracks near the Metrolink station, has a different owner and is not part of Hidden Oaks or its homeowners association. Auburn Hills and Emerald Pointe are the names used in home sales; county records use only the tract numbers.
