About

Living in Lost Canyons

The land once held a 36-hole club with two Pete Dye courses, Sky and Shadow, which closed in June 2016. Housing plans go back to 2008, when the city began environmental review of 364 homes and a new golf course on about 1,770 acres of the Whiteface Specific Plan. That is the same plan that produced Big Sky next door. County records show a final map, Tract 5734-1, recorded in June 2022 under the earlier plan.

The 2026 version moves 180 homes out of the lower canyons. It drops the new golf course, clubhouse and private park and adds a private recreation building for residents, along with public trails, some of them on old golf-course paths. A new tentative tract map came with the approval, so the final lot layout, builders and timing are still to come. For now the nearest trails are the Big Sky Trail, which has an entrance on Lost Canyons Drive, and the Tapo Canyon Trail.
