Living in Casas de la Senda
The oldest section, Tract 2017, is a 1969 cluster of 107 homes on short loops off Martinique Place and Cayo Grande Court, close to Reino Road. Tract 2299 fills the middle with about 184 homes. They range from the 1974 courts of San Marcos, San Nicolas and San Clemente to 1976 homes on Coronado Circle and Los Vientos Drive. Tract 2549 (1977–78, about 160 homes) wraps the west and south sides down to Borchard Road. Tract 4190 added 31 homes around Santa Monica Court in 1987. Home sizes vary by phase, from about 1,300–1,400 square feet in the 1974 courts to about 1,770–2,450 in the 1987 tract.
Every tract map offered its streets to the city as public streets, and the neighborhood is not gated. Borchard Community Park and Newbury Park High School are a short walk east along Reino Road. The Alta Vista and Los Vientos open spaces border the neighborhood on the west and southwest. That open-space edge also brings fire risk. The county's hazard map rates the eastern sections Moderate to High and the western and northern sections Very High.
The lay of the land
Public streets of courts and circles, with compact 1960s and 1970s homes near Reino Road and larger 1970s and 1980s homes along the western edge, next to city open space. Borchard Community Park and Newbury Park High School are a short walk east. The county's fire hazard map runs from Moderate to Very High, and the western and northern sections are Very High.
The builder names come from the owner certificates on the recorded tract maps. Some of those owners were lenders or land partnerships, which may not be the companies that built the houses. Some real-estate websites use other names for parts of the neighborhood that don't appear in city or county records.
