About

Living in Oakmount

The Oakmount name shows up in listings, not in the county record. None of the four tract maps uses it. Listings attach it to the 1960s streets, such as Charro Avenue and Ballina Court, and sell the Windtree Avenue section as Green Knolls. Both 1960s maps were filed while this land was still unincorporated county territory. The 1970s maps were approved by the City of Thousand Oaks.

There is no homeowners association, and the original maps dedicated the streets as public roads. Walnut Grove Park takes up a lot on Windtree Avenue at the north edge, near the Walnut Grove Equestrian Center on Newbury Road, and Lynn Oaks Park is a short way south. The ZIP code is Newbury Park's 91320, but the closest public schools, including Madroña Elementary and Redwood Middle School, are across US 101 in Thousand Oaks.

The lay of the land

Single-family streets built in 1966 and the late 1970s on the south side of US 101, with Walnut Grove Park and the equestrian center at the north edge and Lynn Road along the southeast side.

Real estate listings use several names here, including Oakmount, Green Knolls and Fountainwood. Local real estate guides' maps of Oakmount also take in parts of neighboring tracts. This page covers the four recorded tracts at the center of that area.
