About

Living in Twin Oaks

The name belongs to the Twin Oaks Maintenance Association, which city records tie to the second and larger unit. That unit has 110 two-story homes on Fallbrook Avenue, Rodene and Angeline streets and six short courts, most of them finished in 1999 and 2000. The first unit is a single row of 26 houses on the east side of Knollwood Drive. They went up mostly in 1997 and 1998, sit on larger lots and are outside the association's mapped area.

Streets from the 1960s lie to the north and west, and Potrero Ridge open space borders the homes on the east and south. Cypress Park and Cypress Elementary are a few blocks west. The county's fire hazard map puts homes here in Moderate, High and Very High zones, with the higher ratings toward the southern slopes.

The lay of the land

A late-1990s pocket of two-story detached homes on compact lots, set between 1960s streets and the Potrero Ridge open-space slopes, a few blocks from Cypress Park and Cypress Elementary.

The Twin Oaks name belongs most clearly to the 110 association homes in Tract 4862-2. The 26 Knollwood Drive homes in Tract 4862-1 come from the same original tract but are outside the association's mapped area.
