About

Living in Shadow Run

Most homes come in one of four sizes, from about 1,390 to 2,090 square feet. Carob Drive leads in from Borchard Road and Ilex Drive from West Adrian Street, and most of the side streets end in cul-de-sacs. The original map also set aside open-space lots, the largest a 2.5-acre parcel between Yew and Ilex drives. City records list Shadow Run HOA for the tract, managed by Gold Coast Association Management.

The 1977 map marked a 6.9-acre lot at the tract's north end, along Michael Drive, as a park site. The Conejo Recreation and Park District acquired that land in 1984. In 1999 it turned the lower part into Newbury Gateway Park, which has a playground, picnic tables and an open lawn. The Newbury Park Branch Library is nearby at 2331 Borchard Road.

The lay of the land

A compact late-1970s tract of 88 houses. Its short streets are named for trees and plants, and most end in cul-de-sacs. Newbury Gateway Park sits on the tract's north end, and the Newbury Park Branch Library is a short walk up Borchard Road.

Local agents also use the name Shadow Run for a separate, larger tract elsewhere in Newbury Park, listed by one local guide as Shadow Run (Wendy). This page covers the Borchard Road neighborhood, recorded as Tract 2503.
