About

Living in Westlake Hills

Sierra Drive loops through the neighborhood. Most homes sit on short courts named for mountain ranges, including Great Smokey, Appalachian, Adirondack, Black Hills, Blue Ridge and Sawtooth, plus a few circles named for rivers. Russell Park, a Conejo Recreation and Park District neighborhood park of about 8 acres, shares the middle with Westlake Hills Elementary. The neighborhood was built in phases: the southern section around 1970, the northeast in 1971–73, and the west, with larger floor plans, in 1977–78.

County records list most homes at about 1,400 to 2,750 square feet, on lots of roughly 7,000 to 8,800 square feet, and about two-thirds are single-story. The city lists a Westlake Hills property owners association for the tract, and a local agent says its dues are voluntary, about $40 a year. Colina Middle and Westlake High are nearby, and the Promenade at Westlake is a short walk south.
