Living in Oak Forest Estates
Many lane names come from the Robin Hood legend: Sherwood Drive, Robin Hood Place, Little John Lane and Court, Nottingham Road, Friars Lane and Archery Way. Merry Oak Lane, Fallen Leaf Lane, Old Castle Road and Kings Place fill out the map. County assessor records show mostly two- and three-bedroom homes of about 1,400 to 1,900 square feet, on lots of roughly 4,700 to 7,300 square feet. About 30 homes on Little John Lane and Court date from 1997-98. The streets are private and the entrance is gated. A 2026 listing showed association dues of $418 a month, with a shared pool, spa, clubhouse and fitness room.
The city counts 197 units here and keeps the land in its Mobile Home Park zone. Its 2021 housing plan pointed to Oak Forest Estates and the Westpark condominiums as homes moderate-income buyers could afford, and it counts on that zoning to preserve about 150 affordable units. The 2018 Woolsey Fire destroyed or damaged 16 homes here, and some have been rebuilt since. The tract map set aside five lots as permanent open space and gave the city an easement for a riding and hiking trail. Triunfo Creek Park, a preserve run by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, borders the community.
