Living in Hidden Valley Estates
A 2005 Professional Builder profile said the plans came from Bassenian/Lagoni Architects and used traditional American designs instead of Mediterranean or Tuscan ones. One plan had a brick country-manor front with steep roofs. Crews graded around the site's oaks and sycamores, which added cost. County assessor figures put the houses at about 4,200 to 7,300 square feet, on lots from half an acre to nearly five acres.
The homes sit on five private side streets and the gated end of Bridgegate Street. Prudential Insurance Company of America owned the land when Tract 4291 was recorded in 1989. The magazine says Vintage bought it in 1999, and city records show today's lot lines come from a lot-line adjustment recorded in 2002. The Hidden Valley Estates Maintenance Association, managed by The Emmons Company, covers about 105 acres. COSCA's South Ranch Open Space runs along the community's edge.
