Living in Morrison Ranch
The ranch filled in section by section. The Meadows along Kanan Road came first, then the Fountainwood Street courts, Morrison Ranch South in the west, and finally the Highlands on the central ridge, where the houses are biggest. The early maps were filed in unincorporated county territory and the later ones, from 1983 on, in the new City of Agoura Hills. The maps set aside common slopes and landscape lots for what is now the Morrison Ranch Estates Homeowners Association, which hires a goat herd each year to clear about 80 acres of perimeter brush.
The county paperwork also carries some older history. The land was part of a 1,767-acre share of the Miguel Leonis estate in Rancho Las Virgenes, and the maps note mineral rights reserved to Robert K. Morrison under a 1978 deed. Willow and Yerba Buena elementary schools, Lindero Canyon Middle School, Agoura High School and Morrison Park are all nearby.
