About

Living in Lake Lindero

The land was Lindero Ranch, which Lockheed engineer Clarence "Kelly" Johnson sold in 1962; his ranch house stood near today's Penrod Drive, just east of here. The 1965 maps place the ground in old Rancho Las Virgenes and call the boulevard El Conejo Boulevard. Street names run nautical (Mainmast, Larboard, Davey Jones) or golfing (Sandtrap, Slicers, Hackers), and most houses are about 1,350 to 2,300 square feet.

At the center are the man-made lake and a nine-hole Ted Robinson golf course that opened in 1972, with a club pool, tennis courts and restaurant open to the public. The Lake Lindero Homeowners Association says it represents 459 homes; the townhomes, Stonecrest and Oak Hills Estates run their own associations. Yerba Buena Elementary and Lindero Canyon Middle School are nearby.

The lay of the land

Family streets of 1960s and 1970s houses around a small man-made lake and a nine-hole public golf course, with a club pool, tennis courts and restaurant that anyone can use. Street names lean nautical and golfing, and the neighborhood sits on the Westlake Village line, close to the freeway and to two public schools.

The association's mapped area and its membership differ: the HOA reports 459 member homes among roughly 890 houses. The Penrod Drive and Goodspring Drive streets just east (Tracts 33254 and 33255, built 1978-81) and Peacock Ridge to the north are not part of the mapped HOA area.
