About

Living in Fountainwood

J.B.R. Development Co. filed the first map in May 1972, beside Kanan Road, while the land was still unincorporated county territory. Four more J.B.R. maps followed by 1975, adding the zodiac-named Aquarius, Capricorn, Pisces and Aries streets. From 1977 on, the maps were filed by Fountainwood-Agoura, a partnership whose corporate partner had the same president as J.B.R. Building then moved south toward Thousand Oaks Boulevard, and the last nine houses, on Carell Avenue, went up in 1985.

Sumac Elementary School and Sumac Park sit side by side on Calmfield Avenue near the middle of the neighborhood. The park has a playground, a picnic shelter, barbecues and a multi-purpose field. Willow Elementary is just across Kanan Road on Laro Drive. The city's HOA map lists an architectural chair, not a management company, as Fountainwood's contact.
