Living in Agoura Village
The city adopted the Agoura Village Specific Plan in 2008. It allowed up to 293 multifamily units next to a large commercial program, but nothing had been built under it by 2022. A citizens advisory group helped rewrite the plan to make housing a primary use. The current edition, dated May 2024, allows townhomes, apartments and condominiums but not single-family houses. All four new projects were approved under the city's Affordable Housing Overlay.
The largest is Greystar's 278-unit Bellamy Apartments, rising on the former Regency theater center at Agoura and Cornell roads. National CORE has a permit for 54 income-restricted apartments just east of Kanan Road. Approvals are also in place for 238 homes at the southwest corner of Agoura and Kanan and for 33 homes at 28902 Agoura Road. Whizin Market Square and The Canyon music venue anchor the Roadside Drive side, Ladyface Mountain rises to the south, and Paramount Ranch is about 2.5 miles down Cornell Road.
