Living in Sunset Hills
The oldest houses, on Calle Artigas, Calle Contento and nearby streets north of Olsen Road, date from 1966 to 1970. The Sunset Hills Country Club course fills the middle of the neighborhood; around it came the Calle de Oro streets, the Northwood townhomes, the Citation Homes streets and East and West Hill, mostly between 1973 and 1984. East of the 23 Freeway, Ridgeview Estates came first, then Fountainwood, Maple Knoll and Sunset Ridge.
About 410 acres of open space, most of it owned by COSCA, runs through the area, including a 238-acre ridge along Erbes Road whose trails look out over Bard Reservoir. CRPD's Sunset Hills, Northwood and Cañada parks are close by. The original homeowners association has disbanded, though several later tracts have their own.

Listings often use the name Sunset Hills only for the original 1960s streets north of Olsen Road; this guide uses the broader area around Olsen Road and Sunset Hills Boulevard. Gated Chanteclair Estates and Woodridge, both off Sunset Hills Boulevard, are profiled under Oakbrook and Lang Ranch.
