Living in Lynnmere
Below the gate, Lynnmere Drive and its side streets are public. They include Lotus Avenue and a run of circles and courts such as Truett, Stonehill, Kirtland, Ramsgate and Maysville. Most homes there are about 1,850 to 2,900 square feet. Above the 900 block the drive becomes a private street behind a security gate. That upper section is Lynnmere Estates: about 125 larger homes, most of them 2,700 to 3,800 square feet on lots of a third to two-thirds of an acre. The Lynnmere POA, managed by The Emmons Company, covers the gated streets and a small private park with a playground and a sand volleyball court.
Open space surrounds both halves. The 114-acre Lynnmere Open Space is owned by the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency. It covers the sage-scrub slopes between the gated streets and Lynn Ranch and connects to Wildwood Park. Trail access is at the foot of the gate, near the Wildwood Park trailhead at 930 Lynnmere Drive. Madroña Academy of the Arts and Sciences, Wildwood Elementary, Redwood Middle School and Thousand Oaks High School are nearby.
The lay of the land
The streets climb from the end of Janss Road. The lower half has public cul-de-sacs of mid-1980s family homes. The upper half has larger late-1980s homes on private streets behind a gate. Open space and Wildwood-area trails border both.
The name Lynnmere is used two ways. Some people mean only the gated Lynnmere Estates, which is the Lynnmere POA. Others use it for the whole recorded tract along Lynnmere Drive, including the non-gated streets below the gate. This page covers both and says which part is which.
