Living in Rolling Oaks
Mail is addressed to Thousand Oaks 91361, but this is county land. Ventura County maps place the pocket outside city limits, ringed by Thousand Oaks and inside the city's sphere of influence. The 1956 map describes the land as unincorporated territory, and the county Board of Supervisors approved it. County zoning is RO-3 ac, a single-family estate zone, with a scenic resource protection overlay.
The map set aside Rimrock Road, Sundown Road, Saddle Trail, Colt Lane and Rolling Oak Drive as streets. County parcel records list homes from about 1,600 to 9,000 square feet. Conejo Ridge Open Space takes in the valley south of Rimrock Road, and a trail there connects to the Los Robles Trail. The city's HOA map still lists a Rolling Oaks association but marks it disbanded.
