Living in Hillcrest (Hillcrest Estates & Hillcrest Pointe)
Both tracts were split from the same 1986 master map and share one set of floor plans, running from a single-story model of about 1,490 square feet to two-story plans of about 2,040 to 2,380 square feet. Lots have a median of about 4,800 square feet, and local agents describe the homes as zero-lot-line. The streets are public and there is no gate. Farther along Churchwood Drive, a separate 14-home tract from 1997 sits next to Oak Hills Elementary and Valley View Park.
The 2018 Woolsey Fire destroyed seven homes in Hillcrest Pointe and damaged 15 more. CAL FIRE recorded no damage in Hillcrest Estates. In spring 2022 a homeowner whose house was badly damaged organized goat grazing on roughly 14 to 17 acres of park-district hillside north of Churchwood Drive. Neighbors and Oak Park High students helped pay for it.
The lay of the land
Small-lot homes on short cul-de-sacs on the north side of Kanan Road, backing onto hillside open space.
Agents treat Hillcrest Estates and Hillcrest Pointe as two neighborhoods, but fire-safety documents mention only one Hillcrest HOA, on Churchwood Drive, and public records do not say whether the two tracts share it. Tract 4524, on the 5300 block of Churchwood Drive, is a separate, later subdivision that some agents group with Hillcrest Pointe.
