About

Living in Monte Carlo

In county assessor records, most homes come in one of four sizes: about 1,580, 1,860, 1,980 or 2,360 square feet. That pattern points to a short list of original floor plans, and a few houses have been enlarged since. Typical lots are about 4,700 to 7,400 square feet. The 56-acre map re-divided three large lots from an earlier 1986 map and set aside several open-space lots around the homes.

The map dedicated the streets to the county as public roads, so the neighborhood is not gated. The Oak Park Fire Safe Council lists a Monte Carlo HOA. Indian Springs Park, on Rockfield Street just west of the tract, has two playgrounds, tennis and sand volleyball courts, a baseball field, an adult fitness area and a walking path. The park and Burano Court are both trailheads for the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District's Wistful Vista Trail. Red Oak and Oak Hills elementary schools are both close by.

The lay of the land

An early-1990s single-builder tract of modest detached homes. Its streets carry Italian-flavored names, open-space lots sit along its edges, and a trailhead on Burano Court leads into the Wistful Vista Trail.

Monte Carlo is the name residents and agents use. County records identify the area only as Tract 4403.
