About

Living in Villa Campesina

Moorpark's housing element says the City helped pay for the project with redevelopment and federal block-grant money. It also says many of the first families had worked at Egg City, the huge poultry ranch that has since closed. All 62 houses are on the City's list of affordable homes and are reserved for lower-income households in perpetuity. The same report gives 1989 as the year the homes were built.

The houses range from about 900 to 1,400 square feet, and most sit on lots of about 3,600 square feet. They line James Weak, Villa Campesina and Juarez avenues, with Unidos Avenue along the north edge. The 1988 map names the outer street Liberty Bell Road and the middle street Villa Avenue. Villa Campesina Park is at 4704½ Leta Yancy Road. The housing element calls the homes sound but aging and says the tract could use repair help and street upkeep.
