Castlewood at Big Sky

Online community maps call this village Castlewood: 104 houses on Soft Whisper, Whispering Glen, Deep Waters, Crosspointe and Sentinel courts, Silverstar Street and the east end of Legacy Drive, on the east side of the canyon floor. Its lots, mostly about 8,300 to 15,500 square feet, are among the largest in Big Sky's production villages.

Houses come in four main plans of about 3,030, 4,360, 4,440 and 4,500 square feet. The lots were created by Tract 5182-C-1, recorded in December 2003 with Shea Homes and D.R. Horton as owners, and first sales came in October 2005. Castlewood Lane, despite the name, is in the gated enclave to the northeast. Streets are public and ungated; homes belong to the Big Sky Association.

Big Sky, Simi Valley

Big Sky is the master-planned community that fills Sand Canyon at Simi Valley's northern edge, north of the 118 Freeway at the top of Erringer Road. Shea Homes led the development, and the tract maps were recorded between 2003 and 2005. About 750 homes went up, most of them from 2005 to 2007, in nine production villages plus roughly 30 custom estates.
