Upson Tract

The Upson Tract holds the westernmost lakeside lots on Lake Sherwood Drive. Landowner F. W. Matthiessen Jr. had civil engineer Gerald C. FitzGerald survey its 111 lots in May 1923, and the county recorded the map on June 14, 1923, when the water was still labeled Potrero Lake. About 26 homes stand on its original lots.

About

About Upson Tract

Those lots line the county road from about the 99 block to the 331 block, plus David Lane, a short private lane. Most are a quarter to four-tenths of an acre, with houses ranging from small older places to custom homes of 5,000 square feet or more. A 1963 house at 283 Lake Sherwood Dr comes with a deeded dock across the street. The middle of the tract was re-mapped in 1998 as Tract 4590. Land at its north end was re-subdivided in 1939 and again in the late 1990s and is now part of the gated enclaves above the drive.

Landowner F. W. Matthiessen Jr. recorded its first lots in 1923, and the houses have gone up one by one in the decades since.
