Somis Union School District runs one school, Somis School (listed by the state as Somis Elementary), a TK–8 campus at 5268 North Street in Somis that has served the community since 1895. Its eastern edge meets the western end of the Santa Rosa Valley, so some ranch properties near the valley are in Somis Union rather than Pleasant Valley, and their children attend Somis School for TK–8.

How schools are assigned
Somis Union has a single attendance area, so any home inside the district is assigned to Somis School for grades TK–8. The district posts one school boundary map (a Ventura County Resource Management Agency map dated April 26, 2012) on both its Boundaries page and its School Boundary Map page.
For grades 9–12, the area is in the Oxnard Union High School District. Oxnard Union's School Locator (2026-27 boundaries) placed the Somis School site and a grid of 65 sample points across the district in the Adolfo Camarillo High School zone (4660 Mission Oaks Blvd., Camarillo). Check your own address in the locator if you live near the district's edge.

Choosing a different school
Somis Union has only one school, so there is no in-district school choice process; every enrolled student attends Somis School. After 8th grade, students who want a high school other than their Oxnard Union zone school use Oxnard Union's intra-district transfer or Rancho Campana lottery process.
Programs and how students get in
- Somis School (TK–8): Attendance area: all homes in Somis Union School District. Small TK–8 school with a STEAM curriculum, one-to-one technology, instrumental and vocal music, art, full-day kindergarten, and breakfast and lunch for students.
- Extended Day: After-school program at Somis School; ask the school office. Combines academic help with enrichment such as robotics, arts, music, sports and leadership.
- Bus and van routes: District bus and van routes; route sheets on the Transportation page. 2026-27 route sheets took effect August 19, 2026, with morning stops including Somis Ranch, Bradley Road, Donlon and McBean roads, Balcom Canyon and Old Balcom roads, and Solano Verde.
Transfers and enrollment
Coming from (or leaving for) another district
The Somis Union website does not describe an inter-district transfer process or window. Families who live outside the district and want Somis School, or Somis families who want another district, should call the district office at (805) 386-8258. Oxnard Union posts the 'Interdistrict Transfer Agreement for School Districts in Ventura County,' a county form that is approved first by the district where the student lives and then by the district the student wants to attend; ask Somis whether it uses the same form.

Somis asks families to review the website and the 2026-27 Student and Parent Handbook, then call or visit the school office for enrollment forms: 5268 North St., Somis, (805) 386-5711. Online enrollment is listed as 'coming soon.' The school offers transitional kindergarten and full-day kindergarten; the TK age cutoff and required documents are not listed on the pages we read.
